Answer to the Question: Why Are We Here?

I love it when I’m knocked down, bowled over by the word of God. Today is one of those days. Did you know, Jesus promised the disciples when the Holy Spirit came to them, the Spirit would show them the future? And that is only the beginning…

Listen in to His conversation with the disciples in John 16:

Jesus telling the disciples about the Holy Spirit

JOHN 16
7 I tell you the truth; It is expedient (advantageous, profitable) for you that I go away: for if I don’t go, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart (go, remove), I will send him to you.

13 …when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he hears, he will speak: and He will show you things to come.
14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive from me, and shall show it to you.
15 All things that the Father has are mine: therefore, (the Holy Spirit) shall take from me, and show it to you.

When Jesus was baptized by John, God’s Spirit left the temple, landed and filled Jesus in front of witnesses. But even Christ wasn’t His final resting place. When Christ returned to Heaven, He sent the Spirit back to dwell with us.

WE are the Spirit’s final resting place. WE are His temple. He will never occupy another building as His home, for He occupies the followers of Messiah, those who worship God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). We are His home.

How precious and powerful it is to be surrendered and filled with the Holy Spirit. Without Him in control, we stumble about in the dark. We are ruled by opinion instead of inspiration, we are vulnerable to false teaching, and we struggle to know God’s will instead of hearing directly from Him.

The Holy Spirit is like our wedding ring from our Bridegroom, Jesus! He is the seal of our commitment to Christ, the evidence of our relationship with Him.

When Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to the disciples, and later to us who’ve trusted Christ, He was giving us access to all of Heaven’s wisdom and knowledge! This includes the ability to know the future, whenever God chooses to show us.

Remember this whenever we see Joel 2 and Acts 2 being fulfilled, when His Spirit is poured upon the entire body of Christ, when we all begin having dreams and visions, prophesying. This was promised and should not take us by surprise.

How do we access this river of life and wisdom, open Heaven’s gate to us? It is simple.

Purify your life. Remove every blemish from the world’s paganism, hostility to Christ (James 1:27).

Purpose every morning to surrender to the Lord and invite His Spirit to fill you. Refresh that surrender and filling however often needed during the day.

Then, just watch how He will speak. He will comfort, guide, even tell you things to come!

With Him filling us, we dwell in the ultimate, divine love relationship, and we pour His love and vision into the world where He is so needed. Purpose fulfilled.

Thanking God today for His Holy Spirit, and praying each of you appreciate how precious a gift He is to us.
