FAITH AND FASTING

In Spring of 2019, I began having an intense number of significant dreams and visions that led me to a now 16-month journey to learn how to properly and biblically interpret them. I grew up mainstream Protestant, a lifelong Southern Baptist who actually worked for three “mega-metro” churches for 12 years, and this experience was very out of the box for me. I read several books and have improved in interpretation, but am still learning.

I believe Joel 2 and Acts 2 are alive and well today, that the Holy Spirit is being poured upon the people of God, the body of Christ, that we should EXPECT to hear from Him through dreams, visions, and every other way He speaks to us.

Why? Because we are in the last decades, the last portion of this phase of human history before Christ returns. We may not always have the guarantee of having the written word of God with us. But He will NOT be stopped speaking to His children!

However, it requires a new education. We must learn dream and vision language, like prophet Daniel, Joseph, like apostles Paul, John, and more. None of our Biblical faith founders were strangers to understanding dreams!

In the beginning of my ‘dream school’ the Lord gave me a dream that the Holy Spirit was taking me to the movies. How accurate a description was that image! He uses symbols/actors to represent real life situations, and it takes some work and prayer to decipher the meaning.

Believe me, I understand the skepticism many of you feel. I fought against this when it began in me, ran from it. But with research, reading and studying Scripture on the topic, while continuing to experience it, I realized it is REAL. And it isn’t going away.

Take a look at much maligned verse, Ecclesiastes 5:3, in context with previous verse, and hear what is being said in a scripture version widely considered most faithful to the original language, Young’s Literal Version (Strong’s dictionary definitions in parentheses added):

Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter [any] thing before God: for God [is] in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few. For the dream (prophetic dream) hath come (is attained, fetched) by abundance of business (effort, work, travail), and the voice of a fool by abundance of words. Ecc 5:2-3

Verse 3 is used most often by the ignorant to dismiss the significance of dreams. Well-meaning people misinterpret it to say a dream simply comes from the busyness of your day.

Sadly, most versions of scripture lend to believing this error. Psychology is only too happy to back this up, saying dreams are nothing more than your subconscious working out your feelings. Poppycock. This is utter nonsense.

When seen in context and in the original language, the opposite of what we’ve been taught is being said! The Ecclesiast was not saying dreams mean nothing. He was saying, don’t speak before you understand, a dream’s interpretation comes through hard work, unlike the many words of the foolish, who claim to understand things of which they know nothing!

Your spirit is awake while your body sleeps. And the Holy Spirit is constantly talking to your spirit, per the word of God!

“Hear now My words: if there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known to him in a vision, will speak to him in a dream.” Numbers 12:6

Soon after I awoke to realize my dreams contained messages from the Lord, I had the following two dreams: 1) I was standing and looking at the throne room of God. I saw Jesus standing, a cloud of witnesses, a giant flame in which was the Holy Spirit. And they were all looking at me. 2) I was in Heaven again, and was shown a giant rectangular box-like structure made of precious metals, with multiple, carved out squares engraved with symbols on all sides. I was told it was a gift to me. Months later I would understand that gift represented dream language, and prophecy.

“In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, the Lord seals their instruction.” Job 33:14-15

God has spoken to His family through dreams from the beginning. From Genesis to Revelation, He never stopped talking to His own in dreams and visions. Joel 2 and Acts 2 promise He will be communicating with us through these means. We have to be ready. Now is the time.

When dreams and visions began flowing consistently for me, and after praying for trustworthy and biblical guidance to learn interpretation, the Lord led me first to His Word! Approximately 1/4th of the Bible surrounds the topic of God speaking to His people through dreams!

Next, He led me to a book by Dr. Mark Virkler and Charity Virkler-Kayembe: Hearing God Through Your Dreams, and to books by James W. Goll: Dream Language and Seer.

There is so much Biblical truth in these primers. With this foundation laid, the Holy Spirit will then take you and teach you His personal dream language designed just for you. No two are identical. I urge every believer to seek these resources out and prepare yourself for the future.
