APR 2026 Praying & FASTING for America

After nearly forgetting and almost starting a normal day of food and distraction, the Lord tugged at my spirit and nudged me to spend a quiet day in His presence fasting. It has been a few months since I’ve posted the first of the month about fasting for America. Regardless how often we post about it, know we do continue fasting monthly for America.

It seems especially imperative today. The nation appears to be stumbling.

I think of the positives of the Trump 2nd term. He did successfully stem the tide of illegal immigration and secured our border.

That was such a shocking violation of the sovereignty of America during the Biden years. We love and always want to help the truly desperate, but we cannot throw open the doors and let everyone in unvetted. Doing so has caused harm to American citizens, as criminals who didn’t belong here did not value our laws or lives.

Did we forget that during Obama’s presidency (and Biden’s Vice Presidency), he deported nearly 3 million illegal immigrants? The Obama/Biden policy was anything but open border. What happened during Biden’s presidency?

Why did so many immediately start attacking Trump’s protective stance over the border, when both sides had promoted the same for decades? Questions many cannot answer, I suspect, except to mumble incoherently about Trump bad and Hitler.

More good Trump did… to declare there are only two genders and fight the DEI rhetoric in governmental agencies. Further, I’ll never stop being grateful for his position opposing abortion and his appointment of pro-life Supreme Court Justices. In my opinion, that alone makes him worth every mean tweet.

So, with these victories under our belt, why do we now feel so discontent? I suspect it is because Trump promised to avoid unnecessary wars, then failed to avoid being pulled right into a brand new, huge one. Many of us are livid over being at war with Iran and furious with the war lovers crazed with glee over it. Yuck.

Why is it no matter which side we stand politically, we can find a love of death and suppression in different forms? There is no perfect side, America. Our hope was temporarily in the coalition claiming middle ground and reason. That hope is wearing down. Perhaps it was foolish to trust it.

All of this has served as a reminder, our hope is not in government or earthly saviors, but in the Prince of Peace. Jesus is the answer. How we need Him in America to restore our faith in Him, cleanse our impurities and set us back on the right track.

The only thing I can do today is ask our fasting and prayer warriors to join me in praying for a miracle. Let’s pray together now:

Precious Father in Heaven, we come before You with adoration and gratitude. You are great and greatly to be praised. We ask You to fill us with Your Spirit of truth and grace as we surrender to You now. We beg Your forgiveness for our foolish human ways and that You re-write upon our minds and spirits Your wisdom.

Thank you, Lord, for the good changes Trump has made for America. Don’t let us forget them or fail to be grateful.

Where we are going wrong, please forgive us for trusting our own deceptive hearts. Lead us on a more perfect path, the one You modeled: surrender to God, speaking uncompromising truth, living in humility and love and doing good to our neighbors with wisdom.

God, together with whomever is joining us regularly to fast and pray for America, we ask You for a huge miracle. We are in a dark place in the world, fighting battles we may not belong in, and see no way out with so much damage done and perceived unrecoverable. Please act on our behalf. Please intervene.

Please talk to Donald Trump, and instead of silencing the people speaking truth, silence the ones speaking lies to our leaders and people. End the hidden reign of terror upon our nation and world by seen or unseen enemies as long as possible.

Please end the attacks harming innocent civilians or causing unnecessary damage. Please restore our economy before permanent consequences to America and her citizens occurs. Please rescue the innocent and vulnerable in every variety of harm’s way.

Please restore reason in our halls of faith and politics. Help us return to respectful and open dialogue, a spirit of cooperation to solve every real injustice in America. Open our minds and hearts to truth wherever it may be found.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus, we cry to You now, Father. Be our Deliverer again. We need You and cannot do anything well without You. Forgive our hubris, and return us to Your path against all odds. In Jesus’ name, we ask everything. Amen.
