This year, 2024, has handed us unprecedented weather and disasters, with Hurricane Helene leaving a path of destruction across several states, the Elk Fire still raging in Wyoming, and now Hurricane Milton bearing down on the State of Florida.
Milton is a huge and powerful storm which will cause untold additional damage for a State already trying to recover. Please join me in prayer for the people of Florida, Wyoming, and those still recovering from Helene:
Father in Heaven, we acknowledge You as Almighty God. You are worthy and wonderful, we praise Your name and works. Forgive us and our nation our failures and all the ways we’ve partnered with Your enemies, failing You and our fellow citizens. We ask You now to fill us with Your Holy Spirit, take over our land and strengthen us for every crisis.
Comfort the frightened, protect and shelter Your people. Please stop the fires demolishing Sheridan County, Wyoming. Send rain and help to literally drench the torched land and bring hope to our friends and loved ones in Wyoming. Bring beauty from ashes, as Isaiah declared is Your way in Isaiah 6.
Lord, please break up Milton before it can do more damage to Florida. Calm the storm and the seas. Especially calm Your children and protect their homes and resources. Let no one go without rescue who needs rescue. Let no one go missing. Bring help and hope to every citizen of Florida. Thank you for the many people and organizations already mobilizing to help all in need, including those recovering from Helene to those now in the storm in Florida! Reward them with blessing upon blessing for their kindness and generosity.
Father, let nothing and no one stop Your will from being accomplished in America. Please do not let these or any additional disasters – October surprises – be an excuse to stop the upcoming election, and rally the citizens to speak loudly their choice for the coming four years. Let truth and wisdom rule. Please continue to expose and silence lies, manipulations, and attacks of ANY kind from stopping our democratic processes and bringing true, needed change to our nation, on time, thoroughly.
In the name and power of Jesus, we speak and ask all of these things, trusting You to deliver and be strong for us always. Amen.
